APG was engaged by WDS Hotels Group to manage the planning and execution of a transformative project at the Russell Hotel and Fortune of War Pub located in The Rocks, Sydney. APG assumed responsibility for overseeing both the external facade repairs and internal refurbishment of these iconic establishments.

The external fabric repairs include the restoration and repair of the venues’ roofs and facades to preserve their integrity into the future. The Project’s internal scope includes expansion of the dining and hospitality offering to the venue’s ground floor as well as modifications to the upper-level accommodation, all with the aim of enhancing the experience of guests and staff alike.

The Fortune of War is Sydney’s oldest pub and the venue’s significant heritage character guided our design development and construction execution. Collaboration with key stakeholders, including Place Making NSW, the City of Sydney Council and heritage consultants has been pivotal in navigating the balance between preserving historical significance and offering a great experience for all patrons.
